A female corp member at the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) camp in Emure-Ekiti, Ekiti has been delivered of a baby girl.
The corp member who is among the 653 persons deployed to the state as part of the 2020 batch B stream 1A, went into labour soon after her registration at the camp.
According to Ekiti state NYSC spokesperson, Rose Onoja who broke the news of the child’s birth in a statement on Monday said the new mother had to be rushed to the clinic at the camp soon after her registration as she was falling into labour.
“From the Clinic, she was taken to the General Hospital, Emure, where she was delivered of the baby. Both mother and baby are in good condition,” she said.
The state NYSC coordinator, Mary Chikezie, also spoke on the introduction of ‘camp court’, which she said is part of the new strategies aimed at instilling discipline among corps members. She also warned against acts that contravene the rules and regulations of the NYSC .
“We urge all corps members to adhere to the rules. As a matter of fact there is a Camp Court for the trial of any erring one,” she added.
