Katsina State Chief Judge, Justice Musa- Danladi Abubakar, has granted bail to 256 offenders and discharged seven others across correctional centers in the state.
According to the CJ who disclosed this to journalists on Monday, he embarked on the visitation to the correctional centers with a view to decongest them in line with Covid-19 protocols.
Those who benefited from the gesture included those with serious health challenges, the aged and those who displayed good character while in custody.
Controller of Corrections, Katsina State Command, Muhammad Haruna, reacting to the development, commended the CJ for the gesture, stating that the decongestion would enable them perform their statutory duties of “reforming, rehabilitating and reintegrating the inmates back to the society as law-abiding citizens”.
He further advised the freed inmates and those granted bail to be of good character and refrain from further criminal activities.
