Nigeria is aiming to pick a ticket to this year’s International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup.
They will have to face Tanzania, Kenya, Namibia, Uganda, and Sierra Leone in the Africa qualifier series.
The qualifier is scheduled for Dar es Salaam in Tanzania between July 23 and 29, 2023.
Giving an update on its preparedness, the Local Organising Committee Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tanzania Cricket Association Hamisi Abdallah said, “We are excited and feel honoured to host an event of such magnitude for the next generation of cricketers.
“Our facilities are in pristine shape, and logistics are going well. The preparations are in the final stages. We are looking forward to delivering a quality tournament.
“We look forward to an exciting event as we showcase what Tanzania has to offer.”
The winner of the African event will join regional qualifiers from Asia (Nepal), East Asia Pacific (New Zealand), Europe and America, as well as the 11 Full Member cricket nations that automatically qualified for the 15th edition in Sri Lanka, who will be hosting a third junior World Cup after riveting events in 2000 and 2006.
