Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been declared the most abused player in the Premier League, according to Ofcom (via Utdreport).
The list was prepared on the basis of abusive tweets regarding each player between August 13, 2021, and January 24, 2022.
Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of the greatest players to have ever graced the game, has received the most number of abusive tweets as per the survey.
During the aforesaid time frame, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner received as many as 12,520 abusive tweets.
It comes as hardly a surprise considering Ronaldo is one of the most discussed athletes in the whole world.
The Portuguese return to Old Trafford brought about divided opinions, with many suggesting that he has disturbed the balance of the team.

Speculation has continued over the striker’s future with fans of the club unimpressed with his recent actions.
Ronaldo’s early exit during a preseason friendly against Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday has also fueled speculation surrounding his future.
Last month, Ronaldo informed United of his intention to leave the club this summer in order to play Champions League football.
He subsequently missed the club’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia as well as last week’s friendly against Atletico Madrid, before finally returning to the team on Sunday.
