Dangote Oil Refinery has completed the installation of all 18 transformers as it looks to begin production.
The refinery which will be selling petrol to Nigerians in Naira as shipping costs of fuel from Europe would be cut, is a 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) integrated refinery and petrochemical project in the final phase of construction in the Lekki Free Zone in Lagos, Nigeria.
It is expected to be the Africa’s biggest oil refinery and the world’s biggest single-train facility which will process a variety of light and medium grades of crude to produce Euro-V quality clean fuels including gasoline and diesel as well as jet fuel and polypropylene.
Owned by the Dangote Group, the refinery is a project of an estimated investment of $12bn, and is expected to generate 9,500 direct and 25,000 indirect jobs.
