Bayern Munich full back, David Alaba has been tipped as a potential cover for injured Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk.
Van Dijk, 29, sustained cruciate ligament damage following collision with Everton’s goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford.
While Jurgen Klopp is expected to launch dip into the winter market for a defensive cover, former Bayern Munich star, Mario Basler sees Alaba as the perfect choice.
Academy graduates like Nat Philips and Rhys Williams have impressed in the absence of Fabinho and Joel Matip who are also been ruled out due to injuries.
The young stars have caught the eye at the heart of the Reds’ back four, but a more experienced option will likely be sought at the turn of the year.

The ex-Germany international disclosing to Sport1-Fantalk insisted that the story between the European Champions and Alaba should end with him leaving the club.
“Maybe he’ll go to Liverpool. They have big problems with the injury to Van Dijk and the cruciate ligament rupture.
“He’s supposed to be out for a long time, and I think there’s a big need (to strengthen) in the central defender position.”
Bayern had been hoping to reach a compromise with Alaba that would allow him to remain on their books, but discussions have broken down.
