Chelsea will be looking to bolster their defense in January as plans to sign Bayern Munich star, David Alaba hits top gear.
The full back’s agent, Pini Zahavi reportedly hinted at a possible talks with the Blues following the 28-year-old’s contract which expires next summer.
Alaba has made 398 appearances for the club, but a contract extension is not likely to yield result after Bayern Munich failure to meet his £280,000-a-week demand.
Thus, Alaba looks set to leave on a free transfer next year and his agent plans to open negotiations with Chelsea, according to BILD.
Real Madrid and Juventus are also jostling for the signature of the high flying defender who was part of Bayern Munich treble winning side last season.
‘The answer was that the offer was still unsatisfactory and we should think about it again. We then decided to take the offer completely off the table. This means there is no longer an offer.’
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard strengthened his defence in the summer with another experienced free transfer, in the form of Thiago Silva from PSG, as well as Ben Chilwell from Leicester.
Should Alaba move to Stamford Bridge, he would be competing for a starting place with Silva, Kurt Zouma, Antonio Rudiger, Fikayo Tomori and Andreas Christensen.
