Tyson Fury’s promoter, Bob Anum has revealed that undisputed fight against Anthony Joshua could take place later this year.
The pair were expected to clash in Saudi Arabia on August 14, but a court ruling had told Fury to contractually fulfil a third meeting with Deontay Wilder before September 15, 2021.
Meanwhile, the trilogy fight between the two is set to take place on July 24 in Las Vegas, with Arum hopeful that the unification bout will take place later this year.
Joshua became furious about the rescheduled plans even after Fury himself appeared to confirm the highly-anticipated bout.
Joshua later called out the Gypsy King on Twitter by branding him a “lying fraud” amid doubts over a possible heavyweight clash.
While fans may need to wait a little longer for mega-fight in the coming months, Joshua has to get through his mandatory challenger, Oleksandr Usyk.
The former undisputed cruiserweight champion is set to be given the opportunity to challenge Joshua next.
And Arum admitted he thinks ‘AJ’ has a difficult task ahead of him, but plans to get together with Eddie Hearn and create the undisputed fight in November or December if he is successful.
“Hopefully, although I think Joshua has his hands full with Usyk. That’s a really good fight,” Arum said to iFL TV.
“I give Usyk a hell of a chance to upset Joshua in that fight.
“Hopefully he doesn’t, hopefully Tyson comes through and we can do the unification fight in November or December of this year.”
