Manchester United have been dealt with another blow after midfielder, Donny van de Beek sparked injury worries.
The 23-year-old midfielder posted a picture of his swollen ankle on Instagram with the caption: ‘welcome to the Premier League’ after Sunday’s game against Southampton.
Van de Beek made his first Premier League start in United’s 3-2 victory against Southampton and was on the receiving end of some tough tackles.
United were two goals down at half time after goals from Jan Bednarek and James Ward-Prowse had put Southampton in a comfortable situation.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men changed the rhythm in the second half as Bruno Fernandes scored a goal before substitute Edinson Cavani sealed the victory with his brace.
Van de Beek has had to be very patient since joining United as he has frequently been named as a substitute.
Meanwhile, United’s number one goalie, David de Gea will have a scan on his knee on Monday ahead of their Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Spanish goalkeeper was replaced by Dean Henderson at half time after colliding with the post in an effort to stop James Ward-Prowse’s free-kick.
Manchester United will host PSG at Old Trafford for the Group H Champions League game on Wednesday.
