The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote has urged service companies not to be fixated on contracts from the oil and gas industry.
Engr. Wabote gave the advice on Thursday while commissioning the Beamco Valve Assembly at Appa in Lagos.
The NCDMB boss who described how the incidence of Covid-19 pandemic made industries engage opportunities that they once overlooked, urged Beamco Valve Industry and other service companies to exhibit the same ingenuity by removing their fixation from oil and gas contracts.
“At the peak of the pandemic, the human race converted automobile plants to produce ventilators, converted clothing lines into production for nose masks, and converted factories meant for production of body creams into the production of hand sanitizers.
“This same ingenuity is required of the service companies to take a look at their service equipments, modelling software, personnel and other assets to check the opportunities that they are overlooking due to being fixated on contracts from the oil and gas industry.
Speaking earlier Engr. Wabote expressed delights over his invitation for the commissioning “because it shows that Nigerian businesses are taking up the challenge to grow their outfits; thereby contributing the development of in-country capacities and capabilities.”
He went on to add that “Beamco Nigeria Ltd is a superb example of what a Nigerian oil and gas service company can grow into over a period of time in demonstration of the resilience of the Nigerian enterprise.”
