British boxer Amir Khan has been slammed with a two-year ban.
This according to reports, was after an anti-doping test revealed the presence of a banned substance following his fight against Kell Brook in February 2022.
The former light-welterweight world champion tested positive for ostarine.
As captured by Reuters, the UKAD website states that ostarine is a drug designed to have similar effects to testosterone.
It is present on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited list as an anabolic agent and is prohibited in sport at all times.
Khan, who retired from boxing in May, accepted he broke anti-doping rules but said it was not intentional.
The ban decision which already begun on April 6, 2022, will expire on April 5 next year
Also, an independent tribunal accepted that argument, ruling out “deliberate or reckless conduct” by the 36-year-old.
