The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited two lawmakers over their roles in an impending protest against the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in Niger State.
They are; a house member representing Bida South in the State Assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Haruna Dokodza and the Chairman House Committee on Labour, Malam Malik Madaki Bosso.
Speaking With newsmen, Alhaji Haruna Dokodza disclosed that they were invited to the DSS office through the clerk of the house due to their insistence to “partner with other well-meaning Nigerians to demand accountability and quality service delivery” from the Electricity Company.
The lawmaker who said the poor supply of electricity in the state by the AEDC had become worrisome, added that the invitation will not deter them from carrying out their threat of shutting down Hydro Electric Dams in the state if power supply was not improved to at least 20 hours daily.
It is worthwhile to note that Niger State is home to three hydroelectric dams that include the Kainji Dam built in 1968, Jebba Dam built in 1985 and Shiroro Dam built in 1990.
However, the state has seen the worst of electricity supply in Nigeria, a development which is of great concerns to residents and investors.
