Nigeria has been confirmed as the host of the 13th ECOWAS African Wrestling Championship in Abuja.
This was disclosed by the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) on Monday.
A statement from the NSC said the tournament will be held between 6 and 8 March 2025 as part of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the West African regional body.
The statement revealed that the event will take place inside the Velodrome, Package A, of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, bringing together top wrestling talents from across the West African sub-region.
Already, NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade have welcomed the opportunity for Nigeria to host the tournament, assuring that the country will deliver a hospitable and world-class event.
The championship is expected to strengthen regional sporting ties while showcasing Nigeria’s growing stature as a hub for international sports competitions.
