Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has disclosed that Anthony Joshua could face Francis Ngannuo in the ring barely 72 hours after the Cameroonian declared his intention to compete outside the octagon.
Ngannou, who became UFC heavyweight champion last month, hinted at a transition to boxing to face Joshua or Tyson Fury.
Reacting to the news, Matchroom Sports boss Eddie Hearn said Ngannou could theoretically square up against one of the fighters on his roster – Anthony Joshua.
“AJ wants to be the best, but he also wants to do different things once he meets his goals,” he said, before throwing out another cross-over bout in Katie Taylor vs. ‘Cyborg’ or Amanda Nunes.
He added: “So a fight with Francis Ngannou isn’t impossible. Just like Katie Taylor vs Cyborg or Nunes, potentially.”
Though Joshua and Fury’s bout is expected to happen later this year, but a date and venue for their bout have yet to be announced.
