Nigeria’s Super Eagles Interim Coach, Augustine Eguavoen has been named the best Manager of the group stage by Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
Eguavoen guided the Super Eagles to a 100% group record with three wins out of three matches; becoming the only coach to reach the last 16 with a perfect win record.
Super Eagles won Group D with 9 points and 6 goals and onceded just once.
Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions striker, Vincent Aboubakar was voted the Best Player after scoring five goals in 3 matches to set his side for the knockout statge.
Aboubakar announced his presence at the group stages with 5 goals sending him top of the goalscoring chart!
Guinea enterprising young star, Illaix Moriba won the Best Young Player of the Group stage following his electrifying display which leaves none in doubt of his future prospects.
Egypt’s brilliant shot-stopper Mohammed El Shenawy won the group stage’s Best Goalkeeper after his series of eye-catching performances against Nigeria, Sudan and Guinea Bissau in Group D helped the Pharaohs reach the last 16.
All the award winners made it into the knockout statge which starts on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022 with Burkina Faso v Gabon at Limbe Stadium, Limbe coming up by 5pm, while Nigeria vs Tunisia follows by 8pm at the Roumde Adjia Stadium, Garoua.
