On Sunday night, Elon Musk posted a poll on Twitter asking followers if they thought he should resign down as CEO of Twitter. Musk declared that he will follow the poll’s findings.
By Sunday night, “Yes” was leading with a 58% to 42% margin.
Musk made a general threat regarding Twitter’s future if he is voted out in a series of subsequent tweets, indicating that he was serious about quitting the company.
“As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it,” Musk tweeted.
Musk has moved from one scandal to the next since taking over as CEO of Twitter in late October after purchasing the company for $44 billion.
Brands have been abruptly deleting their Twitter advertising in the meanwhile. Musk has regularly emphasized how terrible Twitter’s financial situation is.
In response to a tweet from MIT artificial intelligence researcher Lex Fridman on Sunday, who suggested he would assume the CEO position, Musk implied that he hasn’t been entirely satisfied with his new position.
Musk tweeted that the business “has been in the fast lane to bankruptcy since May,” adding, “You must like pain a lot.”
But Musk denied that he is considering hiring a new CEO.
“No one wants the position that can genuinely maintain Twitter’s existence. No successor exists, Musk tweeted. Finding a CEO is not the issue; the issue is finding a CEO who can keep Twitter alive.
