A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted the request of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, to freeze the bank accounts of no fewer than 19 persons and a Public Affairs Company linked to #EndSARS protests.
The request, filed by the apex bank on the 20th of October, was granted by Justice Ahmed Mohammed.
The court order was addressed to the head offices of Access Bank, United Bank of Africa, Guaranty Trust Bank, Zenith Bank, First Bank Nigeria, Fidelity Bank, directing the financial establishments to freeze all transactions on the 20 accounts on the list annexed to the CBN’s application as Exhibit A and all other bank accounts of the defendants/respondents for a period of 180 days, pending the outcome of investigation and inquiry currently being conducted by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Affected individuals include Mosopefoluwa Odeseye, Uhuo Ezenwanyi Promise, Akintomide Lanre Yusuf, Ebere Idibie, Nicholas Ikhalea Osazele, Wisdom Busaosowo Obi, Bassey Victor Israel, Saadat Temitope Bibi, Mary Doose Kpengwa, Chima David Ibebunjoh and Bolatito Racheal Oduala.
Others are; Idunu A. Williams, Victor Solomon, Winifred Akpevweoghene Jacob, Mary Oshifowora, Mulu Louis Teghenan, Babatunde Victor Segun, Umoh Grace Ekanem, Adegoke Pamilerin Yusif and Gatefield Nigeria Limited.
