The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has joined in the ongoing peaceful protest demanding police reforms and an end to police brutality in the country.
Pastor Adeboye on his twitter handle said “I support the youth in this peaceful protest as they speak up to #EndPoliceBrutality”.
He made known the position of the church in this fight to end police brutality by saying “the church declares it’s understanding and appreciation of the concerns and grievances of the youths and the generality of Nigerians and calls for an immediate end to police brutality in the country.
He also called on the government to not only restructure the police but to also re-orientate the officers towards modern ways of policing.
He urged to the federal government to quickly solve the rising unemployment issues in the country and to also tackle the decay in the nation’s educational system and the general harsh economic situation in the country.
He further appealed to the Nigerian youth to continue to comport themselves as they have been doing and to only express their grievances within the confines of what God and the law of the land allows.
Other pastors who have also supported the #ENDSARS protest include; Pastor Sam Adeyemi of the Daystar Christian center, Bishop T.D Jakes of the Potters house in the United States of America.
The protest which started 11 days ago has spread across the country as youth and celebrities continue to demand for an end to police special anti robbery squad, SARS.
The protest has continued even after the inspector General of the police, Mohammed Adams dissolved the unit and replaced it with another unit; Special Weapons and Tactical Team (SWAT).
