Liverpool on Sunday defeated defending champions Manchester City 2-0 at Anfield in one of the English Premier League matches decided across centres.
The victory means the Reds have now gone nine points clear on top of the table.
Both Cody Gakpo and Mo Salah scored to give Pep Guardiola’s side their fourth consecutive Premier League defeat, extending its slump to seven games without a win.
The result was City’s first four-game losing streak in the Premier League since 2008, and pushed Pep Guardiola’s struggling side down to an unfamiliar fifth in the table, 11 points behind its greatest rival of recent years.
The win for Liverpool was after a midweek Champions League win over Real Madrid,

In the other matches, Chelsea crushed Aston Villa 3-0 to maintain an unbeaten status in all competitions.
Manchester United now handled by coach Amorim whitewashed sorry Everton 4-0.
In a North London derby, 10-man Fulham held free-scoring Tottenham to a 1-1 draw.
