Defending Champions Manchester City Saturday night suffered their home worst defeats in recent times after Tottenham rode on a 4-0 defeat inside the Etihad.
The victory night for Spurs was triggered early on after James Maddison scored a first-half brace for Ange Postecoglou’s side, who were incredibly clinical against the hosts.
City looked very comfortable in the first ten minutes as they created several chances which they failed to take.
Pedro Porro later made it 3-0 against his former club after some more excellent play from Kulusevski, before Brennan Johnson wrapped up an outstanding victory for Spurs and piled more misery on City.
Gunners Rescue
Earlier same day, Arsenal got their Premier League title challenge back on track with a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, just as Chelsea moved up to third by beating Leicester 2-1.
Arsenal were expected to be contenders to take City’s crown after finishing second in each of the past two seasons.
The Gunners had failed to win in their previous four league games to start the weekend nine points adrift of leaders Liverpool, who travel to bottom-of-the-table Southampton on Sunday.
Blues Play On, Villa Draw
Chelsea remain ahead of Arsenal on goals scored despite failing to make their dominance show in manager Enzo Maresca’s return to Leicester.
Aston Villa are now winless in six and had to twice come from behind just to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace.
Twist For Brighton, Everton, Fulham
Brighton’s incredible start under 31-year-old boss Fabian Hurzeler continued with a 2-1 win at Bournemouth to climb up to fifth.
Everton failed to take advantage of an early red card for Brentford’s Christian Norgaard in a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park.
Alex Iwobi’s goal was not enough as Wolverhampton Wanderers trashed Fulham 4-1 at the Craven Cottage to get just their second league win in the Premier League this season.
Wolves are now out of the bottom.
