The executive of the European Union stated on Thursday that the new law in Poland regarding Russian influence “continues to raise serious concerns.”
Poland’s President Andrzej Duda, a supporter of the ruling bill and Justice (PiS) party, signed the bill into effect on Wednesday despite warnings that it may be used as a tool to target political opponents ahead of a national election scheduled for this autumn.
The proposal would establish a special commission to investigate any improper Russian influence in Poland, among other things.
Additionally, a representative of the European Commission claimed the legislation might place Poland in violation of EU regulations if the panel begins to function.
