La Liga side Sevilla on Thursday night hammered Manchester United 3-0 to carry the day on a 5-2 aggregate victory in the quarter-final of Europa League.
The win ensured that the spanish club have reached the semi-final stage of the competition where they will face Italian giants Juventus.
Their first and second leg clashes will happen on May 11 and 18, 2023 respectively.
The Italian side beat Sporting 2-1 on aggregate in their quarter-final.
How the Red Devils flatly crashed
The match between Manchester United and Sevilla produced a shocker after the former made series of mistake which forced them to eventually concede defeat.
A Harry Maguire clanger gifted Sevilla their opening goal inside 10 minutes.
That was after Maguire called for the ball from goalkeeper David de Gea, received it with three Sevilla forwards around him.
He then immediately lost possession to gift opponent Youssef En-Nesyri a straightforward opportunity he did not waste.
United would have been 2-0 down at the break were it not for a VAR review ruling out a Lucas Ocampos goal because of an offside in a move started by Casemiro losing possession meekly.
Fit-again Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw were introduced at the break, but the visitors went two goals behind almost immediately when, from a corner, Loic Bade’s shoulder sent the ball looping over De Gea and in off the bar.
United had no response as Sevilla managed the game well and conceded few chances of note, something Erik ten Hag’s team had failed to do when 2-0 up in the first leg.
The misery was completed in the 81st minute when a De Gea howler presented En-Nesyri with the ball and he scored into an empty net.
This was the first of a series of potentially season-defining games for United.
They will now take on Brighton at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.
Later on, the Red Devils will face a key Premier League match at Tottenham on April 27.
Sevilla meanwhile, will play Juventus in a two-legged semi-final
