The European Union (EU) has opened its scholarship portal for the 2022 Eramus+ Scholarship Programme to create opportunity for youths in Nigeria.
Revealing this at the National Youth Conference organized by the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports in Abuja, the EU Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilaien observed that Nigerian youths are key to the nation’s development, adding that the EU delegations in Africa have been mandated to establish a youth sounding board to ensure youths are mainstreamed into their decision-making process to reflect diversity and inclusivity.
The programme which is EU’s flagship series for education, training, youth and sport, will hold next year. It offers beneficiaries who are youths to study in some of the most prestigious universities within and outside Europe.
The programme is equally committed to equipping young Nigerians with the education, skills and competencies they require to contribute to nation-building.
In 2021, it awarded over 135 Nigerians a prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree Scholarship.
Nigeria, Bangladesh, India, Mexico, Pakistan, and Brazil are the top countries with the most awardees.
