Ex-Super Eagles star Kingsley Obiekwu has again received a donation of N1million from an entrepreneur in Delta State, according to reports.
The Heritage Times gathered that the Managing Director of Luckbay Homes, Ikechukwu Ujomu became the latest person to come to the financial aid of the Olympic gold medalist who is now a commercial bus operator in Enugu State.
Mr Ujomu, who hails from the same local government area as Obiekwu in Delta State, confirmed the donation on Saturday morning.
“When I heard about it, I just made contact to confirm the authenticity of the story, Ujumo told Premium Times.
“They sent me his (Obiekwu’s) contact and his account details. So, I just decided to make that donation to help him in his situation,” Mr Ujomu added.
Recall that Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa had gifted the Obiekwu N2million on hearing about his financial struggles.
Obiekwu, 47, disclosed in an interview that the need to complement his meagre salary and to earn a honest living turned him into a commercial bus driver in Enugu.
The former Dutch Eredivisie defender who was hard as nails during his playing days, saw his career short-lived due to a heart condition.
Obiekwu is currently the Manager of Inglas FC a club in the Nigerian Nationwide League.
