Former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has landed Daura, his native town in Katsina State, North West Nigeria, shortly after handing over power to his successor in office, Bola Tinubu.
Buhari who defeated the then governing party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015, has completed his constitutional two-term tenure of four years each.
While the process leading to the inauguration of the new President was still on at Eagles Square, he left the venue for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.
Buhari has said he will go back to his farming business in his native town.
Tinubu, a former Lagos State Governor, was sworn-in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola at exactly 10:28 a.m, along with the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima.
Tinubu who is Nigeria’s 16th President is inheriting burgeoning security concerns in the most populous African country, along with high debt profile.
He assured that he will not disappoint Nigerian, even as his election on Feb. 25 is being challenged by candidates of Labour Party, Peter Obi and his PDP counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria.
