A former Nigerian boxer, Jeremiah Oborodudu, has died after battling a protracted illness.
Heritage Times HT reports that Oborodudu who represented Nigeria at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games passed on Wednesday night at a hospital in Lagos state.
He was aged 64.
His wife, Adenike, on Thursday morning confirmed his demise
She however, said the hospital has detained the husband’s corpse till outstanding bill is paid.
Also speaking, the Secretary-General, Nigeria Boxing Board of Control and President, West Africa Boxing Union, Remi Aboderin said, “It is true about his death. I just confirmed it after you called me and I reached out to some colleagues.
“It is unfortunate that he died this way, and I am actually lost for words. May his soul rest in peace.”
Okorodudu represented Nigeria at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games, where he competed in the middleweight category.
