Turkish club, Trabzonspor has unveiled the statue of Nigerian striker, Anthony Nwakaeme in the city of Trabzon following his impressive contributions at the club.
The 32-year-old, who joined Trabzonspor on August 2018 from Israeli club Hapoel Be’er Sheva, has made over 90 appearances for club, with over 20 goals to his name.
Nwakaeme had helped Trabzonspor win the Turkish Cup and the Turkish Super Cup last year, with the striker now being honoured for his performance since joining the outfit.
Commenting on the statue, Adem Birsen said, “We wanted to make a bust of Nwakaeme, we wanted the very intelligent man to identify with Trabzon. We made it with the cap of our legendary name Ahmet Suat Özyazc? It was a long construction process in 5-6 months. We had it done with a special sculptor. We love and admire him very much. If Fenerbahçe has Alex, we have Nwakaeme. We love him very much, he should continue to score, he is our everything”.
Birsen added: “It cost 30 thousand Turkish Lira (N1.4m) but the money is not important. Let him come here, we have food, we eat and drink. Let him continue to score. If Fenerbahçe has Alex, we have Nwakaeme. We love him very much, he should continue to score, he is our everything.”
Nwakaeme has also started the season on a bright note, scoring three goals in five appearances in all competitions, two goals in the league and one in the newly introduced UEFA Europa Conference League.
