Fenerbache has terminated the contract of Mesut Ozil, just 18 months after the German joined the Turkish giants on a free transfer from Arsenal.
After a dismal end to his time at Arsenal, Ozil at the time had secured what he termed as a dream move to the club he supported as a child.
However, his time at Fenerbahce has not gone smoothly at all and back in March the club suspended him indefinitely, over claims he was ‘physically competent.’
Ozil had captained the team just days before, in a 2-1 win over then second-placed Konyaspor but he was taken off at half-time, following an argument with the Manager.
Whilst the former Real Madrid star still claimed he supported the team, he wasn’t seen in a shirt after the suspension, and now his time at the club is over.
On Monday, NTVSpor, reported that the 33-year-old’s contract at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium had been terminated by the club.
This appears to be the second time Ozil has experienced a stunning fall from grace back pedaling to his years at north London.
During his final nine months at Arsenal before eventually leaving for Fenerbache in January 2021, Ozil did not make a single appearance for the club.
He became a source of anger for many Arsenal fans as he was the club’s best paid player in that time on an enormous £350,000 per week.
