The Federal Government is set to prosecute 400 suspects arrested for allegedly funding terrorism in the country.
Revealing this during a press conference in Lagos, the Minister of Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed also reiterated the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in tackling the menace of insurgency, banditry and other security threats across the country.
According to him, “The Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice has announced that the Federal Government is set to prosecute 400 suspects arrested for allegedly funding terrorism,” he said.
“This is unprecedented and its a testament to the government’s determination to decisively tackle terrorism and other violent crimes.”
While describing attacks on security formations as a declaration of war against the country, Mohammed appealed to Nigerians to support security agencies, who face the added task of having to watch their backs while working to protect others.
Recall that prominent Nigerians who are sponsors of terrorism will face the judicial system as the federal government has perfected plans to prosecute them.
This development was disclosed by the attorney-general of the federation on Friday, May 7.
Malami who did not disclose the identities of the suspects or the number of people affected made this known while speaking with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa.
