Nigeria’s Super Eagles dropped two places in the latest FIFA ranking announced for the month of October, following a not-too-impressive performance on match-day 3 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier.
Nigeria senior men’s football team suffered a shock 0-1 home defeat to the Central African Republic at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
Though the three-time African champions came out victorious in reversed fixtures played a few days later, that did not matter.
The latest ranking released on Thursday morning dropped Nigeria from the 34th position it was in September to the 36th position in the World.
Despite dropping two places, the team was able to maintain its 5th position in the African ranking.
The 3-time African champions must now do enough to maintain their position in the top 5 by the end of November, as the world soccer governing body has said the month ranking will be used for seeding in the playoff round of the world cup qualifier.
