Nigeria’s Super Falcons have maintained their 45th position in the latest FIFA Women’s World ranking.
The latest ranking released on Friday December 9 via the website of the world football governing body FIFA, is the final list for the year 2022.
The Nigerian women team had lost their African crown to the Banyana Banyana of South Africa during the African Women Cup of Nations.
Randy Waldrum’s side is also winless in their last five consecutive outings.
World champions, the United States of America, retained the top position on the ranking despite winning only one of their last four games.
Germany moved to the second position, with Sweden dropping to the third position. England and France complete the top five teams in the world.
Despite being ranked 45th in the world, Falcons still remain the best footballing side in Africa according to the ranking by FIFA.
South Africa occupy second position and 54th in the global ranking, while Cameroon are third and 54th in the world.
Meanwhile, Super Falcons will campaign in next year’s Women’s World Cup where they are in group B alongside Canada, Australia and Republic of Ireland.
Nigeria will play their first game against Canada on July 21, 2023.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will be published on March 24, 2023
