The Qatar 2022 World Cup play-off draw between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Black Stars of Ghana has taken a different turn, after the Nigeria Football Federation filed an official petition to authorities with regards to proposed venue of the mouth-watering encounter.
According to reports, a petition has been sent to FIFA over the condition of the pitch in Ghana said to host the first leg play-off scheduled to take place on the 24th of March 2022.
The pitch which is located in the Central Region of Ghana is said to be in poor condition.
FIFA has now proposed that, the much-expected game be played on a neutral ground if the fields in Ghana fails to meet expectations.
Morocco and Benin have both been suggested as the possible ground for the big game.
The reports also added that, further investigation is being conducted by CAF.
And sources have revealed that, a stadium in the Ashanti Region could pose as an alternative if the current is not approved.
The game between the two West African heavyweights has been tipped as the biggest game among other play-offs on the continent scheduled for this month.
As the anticipated clash draws closer, the atmosphere becomes more tensed.
Nigeria named a tough squad last week, whilst Ghana have decided to keep theirs a secret in order to surprise their opponent.
Both countries were handed an early exit at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon this year.
Ghana had a dismal outing after they failed to reach the knockout stage, while Nigeria suffered a shock defeat to Tunisia despite posing a 100 per cent win record at the group stage.
