Nigeria will on Tuesday August 30, 2022 officially resume preparation ahead of the 7th edition of FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup scheduled for India in October.
Already, Head Coach of Nigeria’s U17 girls, Flamingos, Bankole Olowookere, has invited 35 players to camp in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
The young players consist mainly of those who prosecuted the qualifying stages earlier this year, according to official press statement from the Nigeria Football Federation.
Team captain Alvine Dah-Zossu, first choice goalkeeper Faith Omilana, regular defenders Miracle Usani, Blessing Sunday, Comfort Folorunsho and Tumininu Adeshina, midfielders Blessing Emmanuel and Taiwo Afolabi, and forwards Opeyemi Ajakaye and Aminat Bello are among those selected.
Others are Linda Jiwuaku, Jessica Chikamso, Uchechi Onyechere and Comfort Erhabor as goalkeepers.
Iniobong Umanah, Olamide Oyinlola, Confidence Nwora, Mamuzo Edafe, Immaculate Effiong, Ekezie Onyedikachi, and Marylin Essien are other defenders.
Among the forwards are Daniella Alali, Tolulope Adubairo, Amarachi Ndudim, Mary Lucky, Edidiong Etimi, Ijeoma Onweagba, Odinaka Odoh, Alvine Dah-Zossu, Kafayat Bashiru, Yetunde Ayantosho and Udeme Ukoh.
The other midfielders are Alima Alasse, Bisola Mosaku, Mary Aderemi and Chidera Okenwa.
The Flamingos conquered the challenges of Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt and Ethiopia to qualify for this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, winning five of their six matches in the process.
The competition finals will be staged in India between October 11 and 30, 2022.
