Less than three years after returning from retirement, British heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury has announced he is stepping away from the sport once again.
His second retirement decision comes after a recent loss to Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, just a few weeks ago.
In April 2022, Fury announced his retirement after a victorious bout but returned to action later the same year.
On Monday, 13 January, the 36-year-old Fury, also known as the ‘Gypsy King’, posted a video on social media, saying:
“Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet. I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing.
“It’s been a blast.
“I’ve loved every single minute of it, and I’m going to end with this: Dick Turpin wore a mask. See you all on the other side.”
Fury’s last fight was in December 2024, where he lost his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh.
When asked after the fight whether the public would see him in the ring again, Fury replied, “You might do, you might not do. Who knows?”
Fury enjoyed two stints as heavyweight champion and retires with a record of 34 wins, two defeats, and one draw.
