Reports from Uganda has revealed that the country’s Boxing Federation (UBF) President, Moses Muhangi, is now cooling off in Police custody following forgery allegations levelled against him.
According to NTV reports, the Uganda top boxing official was arrested after he appeared in front of the country’s Public Accounts Committee and was asked to write a statement on alleged forged documents and false accountability.
That was after he allegedly “failed to justify the authenticity of receipts showing expenditures” as some loopholes and discrepancies were said to have been found in the UBF’s accounts, with the receipts involved allegedly worth more than UGX3 million (£650/$805/€745).
Muhangi, known as a supporter of International Boxing Association (IBA) President Umar Kremlev, has been kept at the Central Police Station in Ugandan capital Kampala.
In Uganda, Muhangi is not the only one on this path.
Previously, the President of the Ugandan Netball Federation, Sarah Babirye Kityo, had been arrested on allegations of obtaining money by false pretence, and was remanded in Luzira Prison.
