As part of efforts to assist government in addressing the social-economic challenges facing the country, former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has said the proceeds from his book launch will be channelled towards supporting the girl child education.
Sanusi made the disclosure at the unveiling of his book titled: “For the Good of the Nation”, on Tuesday in Lagos.
The book, a collection of essays and perspectives, was unveiled to mark his 60th birthday and to raise funds for the girl-child education, as well as promote and scale up the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) challenge of the United Nations.
“Many young girls graduated from secondary school but lacked the support to proceed to higher institutions.
“The money would be channelled to a trust fund that hoped to raise 2 million dollars in the next five years to fund the cause”, he said.
Sanusi also appealed to the government to move the country to path of fiscal sustainability.
According to him, this generation cannot continue borrowing to consume while passing the debt on to the next generation to pay.
He warned against reckless borrowing, saying it was a sacrifice that must be made now.
