Sepp Blatter has reportedly been hospitalised due to a non-life threatening although, serious condition, according to Swiss newspaper Blick.
However, the daughter of the former FIFA president, Corrine Blatter Andenmatten told the publication: “My father is in hospital. He’s getting better every day. But he needs time and rest.”
‘On behalf of my family I ask for privacy.’
Blatter was removed from office back in 2015 after 17 years in charge of the world football’s governing body.
He was consequently banned along with UEFA chief Michel Platini from all football activity for six years following an investigation into widespread corruption at FIFA during his tenure.
In 2011, Blatter allegedly paid £1.6million to then-head of UEFA, Michel Platini, in a payment prosecutors described as ‘disloyal’.
The 84-year-old had a minor surgery to treat skin cancer in 2016.
