A former Prime Minister of Italy, Arnaldo Forlani,on Thursday passed on at the age of 97.
Local media reported on Friday that Forlani’s son Alessandro announced his father’s death in Rome.
Forlani, of the Christian Democracy (DC) party, was born in 1925 in the Adriatic port town of Pesaro. He was Italy’s prime minister from October 1980 to May 1981.
He studied law and rose through the ranks of the DC.
He was party secretary for a time and held various ministerial posts, including minister of defence and foreign affairs minister.
Born in Pesaro, Forlani was president and vice president of the Council of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Defense and State Investments.
He held the role of secretary of the Christian Democrats in the four-year period 1969-1973 and then between 1989 and 1992.
