Imran Khan, a former Pakistani Prime Minister, was shot in the leg during a rally in Wazirabad.l on Thursday.
A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf official, Azhar Mashwani, confirmed to News Agencies on Thursday that the politician had been wounded in the leg but was not in danger. It was alleged that six other people, including politician Faisal Javed Khan, were hurt in the attack.
Khan was transported to a hospital in Lahore after leading a protest march to Islamabad’s capital and calling for immediate elections.
Uncertainty surrounded the gunman’s identity when he was apprehended by police on the spot. No organization has taken ownership of the assault.
Khan was seen in footage on local media traveling from his container to a vehicle with the assistance of his security team while carrying a bandaged leg.
The incident was denounced in a statement by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who also requested that an investigation be opened right away.
Khan started his long march from Lahore on October 28 and is anticipated to arrive in Islamabad on November 11.
A legislative vote of no confidence led to the overthrow of his government in April of this year. Khan has since held rallies across the nation to call for early elections.
