Official sources have said that the Indian delegation to the G7 meeting does not pose a risk to the rest of the representatives in London, as they had not yet meet the other dignitaries.
Members of India’s team had held other meetings earlier, before news broke out on Wednesday of a possible Coronavirus infection among the delegation.
But face masks were worn and social distancing was fully in place during those meetings, the source added.
It is understood the Indian foreign minister is self-isolating as a precaution.
A senior British diplomat told dpa, “We deeply regret that Foreign Minister Dr Jaishankar will be unable to attend the meeting today in person and will now attend virtually, but this is exactly why we have put in place strict COVID protocols and daily testing”,
