Frank Lampard’s midfield has been dealt a huge blow after reports emerged of 71 million pounds midfielder testing positive to coronavirus.
Kai Havertz, have been in a solid form since joining from Bayern Leverkusen this summer; amassing a total of eight goal contributions in his nine appearances for the north London side.
Lampard had brought back legendary goal keeper, Petr Cech due to the ravaging coronavirus epidemic.
The German who is currently self-isolating will be out of action for Chelsea for the immediate future.
Lapmpard speaking before the game against Rennes which his side recorded another clean sheet, said, “He’s tested positive for Covid-19 in the testing going into this game,” Lampard said before the game against Rennes
“So he’s come away from the squad and is isolation as the doctor’s orders are.”
However, the German’s absence wasn’t missed after all following another remarkable performance from Lampard’s men as they defeated Rennes 3 – 0 last night.
The Blues will be without the German international when they travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United at the weekend in the Premier League.
But with the international break approaching, Chelsea should not lose him for any longer, unless he fails to recover.
Germany, however, could be without him for the games against the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Spain.
He could return for the trip to Spain, but is now unlikely to be included.
