After a difficult and nervous initial display, American tennis youngster, Coco Gauff is now the winner of the 2023 US Open.
This is after she fought back from a set down to beat Aryna Sabalenka to claim her maiden major title at the US Open.
At 19, Gauff clinched a 2-6 6-3 6-2 win on a delirious Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Sabalenka, who will take over as world No. 1 on Monday, made a strong start in a bid to silence a partisan crowd in New York.
The teenage Gauff, seeded sixth saved break points in the first game of the second set, and took control from that point.
Gauff became a wall at the back of the court, retrieving ball after ball and forcing Sabalanka into errors.
The Belarusian had no answers after dropping serve twice in the final set, as Gauff wrapped up a 2-6 6-3 6-2 win.
Gauff, seeded sixth, started slowly in front of an expectant home crowd but grew in confidence to wear down second seed Sabalenka in New York.
Gauff will rise to a career-high third when the latest rankings are released on Monday.
