According to figures released by the Labour Office on Tuesday, Germany’s unemployment rate fell in December last year, with the war in Ukraine having only a minimal overall impact on the labour market.
As reported by the Federal Labour Office, the 2.52 million total numbers of unemployed individuals fell by 13,000 in seasonally adjusted figures. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected that figure to rise by 15,000.
At 5.5%, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate did not change.
“The effects of Russia’s conflict on Ukraine, including price hikes, uncertainty, and refugee movement, have been felt during the past year.
However, given the size of the obligations, they have been moderate “said Andrea Nahles, Director of the Labour Office.
