European powerhouse, Germany became the first nation to progress to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, following a 4-0 thumping of North Macedonia.
Hansi Flick’s side booked their spot for the quadrennial tournament, having cruised through their qualification campaign with relative ease.
Brace from Timo Werner and a goal each from Kai Havertz and Musiala on the night handed Germany a deserved victory – coupled with defeat for Armenia against Romania sent Flick’s men into the finals.
Heading into Monday’s match in Group J, Flick and company needed only to defeat their hosts in Skopje and hope that Armenia dropped points against Romania elsewhere.
The result leaves them safely through from UEFA qualifying Group J with an eight-point lead over Romania with two games left to play.
