The Black Princesses of Ghana Thursday night edged their Nigerian counterpart 2-1 after extra time to win football gold at the ongoing 13th African Games.
The Ghanaian side came from a goal down to defeat the Falconets in a Jollof derby at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
How The Final Played Out
Nigeria had gone ahead through Loveth Edeh who profited from a goalkeeper’s blunder in the 23rd minute to take the lead.
It was much later in the second half that the Ghanaian ladies drew level in the 78th minute through Tracy Twum to make up for her numerous misses.
Then, the medal-defining goal was netted in the 99th minute through Mukarama Abdullai.

It was a superb goal as she fired home from the edge of the box beyond the Nigerian goalkeeper to the delight of the home fans.
Regaining Lost Title
The victory meant that Ghana regained the African Games Gold they won in 2015.
Another Jollof derby is now locking when Ghana’s senior national team engage that of Nigeria in an international friendly game later on Friday in Marrakesh, Morocco.
