President John Dramani Mahama has pledged that his administration will act decisively and swiftly to address Ghana’s pressing socio-economic challenges.
Speaking during his swearing-in ceremony in Accra yesterday, Mahama described the current state of the nation as dire, necessitating a comprehensive reset to restore stability and growth.
Outlining his vision, the President emphasised his commitment to focusing on four critical areas of the economy: restoring economic stability, improving the macroeconomic environment, enhancing the business and investment climate, and positioning Ghana as a hub open for business once again.
He reaffirmed his dedication to implementing 26 specific actions within his first 120 days in office, as promised during his election campaign.
“Actions have always spoken louder than words,” Mahama said.
He urged citizens to embrace the reset agenda, which he described as an unavoidable step toward revitalising the nation. Mahama called on Ghanaians to have faith in the country’s potential and its leadership, emphasising that faith is the foundation for achieving meaningful change.
“With faith, you believe what you know. That is why we need faith to achieve our reset. We need faith in our institutions, our attitudes, and our beloved nation,” he said.
Mahama expressed optimism that, with collective effort, Ghana could overcome its challenges and emerge stronger, making it difficult to imagine a time when the country had been in such a state.
The President extended an invitation to all Ghanaians to join him in a covenant aimed at creating a nation that works for everyone without leaving anyone behind. He painted a vision of inclusivity and progress, championed by Ghana’s historic election of its first female vice president, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
“With Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang by my side, we are poised to embark on a journey of progress and inclusivity, united in our vision for a more prosperous Ghana,” Mahama said. He described the occasion as a milestone for all Ghanaians who dream of a society where barriers are broken and ambitions realised.
Looking ahead, Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to breaking societal barriers and fostering an environment where every Ghanaian can aspire, believe, and achieve without restraint. He emphasised that great leadership is defined not by positions held but by the legacy left for future generations.
Addressing the youth, the President assured them of his administration’s commitment to translating their aspirations into concrete opportunities. He pledged to prioritise education, entrepreneurship, employment, and empowerment to secure a brighter future for the younger generation.
