Ghana beat South Korea 3-2 to keep their 2022 World Cup campaign alive in Qatar.
Both Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus and Gue-Sung Cho of Korea both scored twice in a rollercoaster Group H clash on Monday November 28.
The Black Stars needed to avoid defeat and skip an early elimination, and that was exactly what they did.
The West African side held on to record their first World Cup since reaching the quarter-finals in 2010, setting up a tantalising final group game against Uruguay – the side that knocked them out 12 years ago in controversial fashion.
Earlier same day, Cameroon played out a 3–3 draw against Serbia in group G second encounter at the Al Janoub Stadium.
The result has now put the advancement of the African team into the Round of 16 at the Qatar 2022 in shaky style.
It was also Cameroon’s ninth match in a row in which they failed to win.
But the encounter with Serbia is a shade better than the previous eight in which Camroon lost.
The team had to depend on ageing Vincent Aboubakar who came off the bench to rescue the Indomitable Lions.
He scored a superb goal and offered an assist in another. The result keeps both sides’ slim chances alive at the World Cup.
The result left both sides on one point and needing to win their final Group G game to stand a chance of going through to the knockout stages, with Cameroon facing Brazil on Friday while Serbia take on Switzerland.
