The Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has confidently stated that Ghana will maintain peace after the December 7 general elections, dismissing concerns of potential unrest.
Speaking at a durbar in Asiakwa in the Eastern Region of Ghanato celebrating his 25th anniversary on the Ofori Panin Stool, the king emphasized Ghana’s history of peaceful elections since 1992 and urged citizens to vote responsibly.
The colourful event was organised by the Nifa Division of the traditional area and was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life.
The Okyenhene stated that Ghanaians had demonstrated full commitment during elections and, therefore, urged the electorate to vote for the party they thought could help improve their socio-economic conditions.
He appealed to Ghanaians to go home immediately after casting their ballot and wait for counting and the announcement of the outcome.
“You rejoice when your party is victorious. However, if your party does not win, that is not the end of the world for you,” he said.
He maintained that there would be no war after the elections because Ghanaians were peace-loving and peace would reign before, during and after the elections.
Ofori Panin commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his vision of educating every Ghanaian child. He urged parents to take advantage of that initiative and send their children to school.
While urging the government to bring more development projects to the region and its environs, he appealed for more employment opportunities for school leavers in the area.
