Nigeria on Friday ended the Kenya women national hockey team’s Hope of possibly securing a 2024 Olympics ticket, as its players came out victorious in the semi-final stage of the qualifier series.
The game actually ended 1-0 in favour of the Nigerians who will hope to march to Paris Olympics should they win the final match of the qualifier against the winner between South Africa and Ghana in the ongoing Africa Hockey Olympic qualifiers in Pretoria, South Africa.
Kenya will also be waiting for the outcome of the match to know their opponent in the third-place playoff.
It was Nigeria’s first quarter strike that was enough to beat the Kenya’s Blades and book a spot in the African Hockey Women’s final for the first time in history, thus keeping alive their hopes of gracing the Olympics.
Nigeria’s Queen Njoku was delighted after seeing her country’s sail to the final for the first time, noting that they were inspired by the coaches.
She expressed optimism that the team would win the final and book a place in the Olympics.
