Super Eagles and Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has recounted how he had to beg for money to watch the English Premier League at the viewing centre since his parents could not afford a cable subscription fee.
According to Iheanacho, though his family had TV but could not have access to the Premier League games back then when he was still very young.
But, all those are in the past now as the Super Eagles superstar is living out his dream while playing for a Premier League club in the UK.
The 24-year-old recently won the Premier League Player of the Month for March following his superb form for the Foxes this season.
“I had to beg to watch the EPL as a child because at some point I couldn’t afford the N50 gate fee at the viewing centre close to my house. When such occasions comes, I would sometimes sneak into viewing centres or beg my way in just to have a glimpse of the match.
“There was no way my parents would have afford monies to subscribe to DSTV which shows the Premier League,” Iheanacho revealed.
Iheanacho moved to Leicester City on a five-year contract in 2017 from Manchester City for a reported £25 million fee.
So far, the U17 World Cup gold medalist has bagged 87 appearances for the Foxes and scored 15 goals since joining the side.
